Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Jaycees?

We are a leadership, community service and social organization for young adults between the ages of 18-40.  We run projects and events in 4 different areas of opportunity: Individual Development, Community Action, Business, and International Collaboration. We help our communities, travel, meet new friends, grow as leaders and have lots of fun along the way!

Is there a minimum requirement for participation in events?

The Jaycees is a unique organization that does not have a minimum requirement for participation in events.  We have a saying around the Jaycees, “You get out of the organization what you put into it”. You decide your level of participation. Any amount of time is appreciated, and it is well worth getting involved. It is recommended that you attend one monthly meeting and consider being part of at least one committee. Every chapter is different, but we realize your time is valuable.

Isn't This Just Community Service?

No. Our members learn leadership development skills through organizing and running long-term projects that make meaningful changes to the world around them. We also provide training, skill building, and personal development. JCI opens the door to countless opportunities for friendships and partnerships across hundreds of industries.

How can I become a member?

All you have to do to become a member is fill out an application, pay your first year’s dues, and be sworn in by your local chapter president. We can connect you with your closest chapter. If there is not one nearby we can help you grab your friends and make a brand-new chapter!
